Peertopia Licensing Policy
In this policy, Peertopia (PT) tells you the meaning of a license, the types of licenses owned by sellers, the type of licenses given to purchasers when they buy resources on PT, and how this license can be revoked.
License
License is a very important word in the digital world. It is a special permission to do something on, or with, somebody else's property, which were it not for the license, could be legally prevented or give rise to legal action. Consequently, any and every user or purchaser who purchases resource materials on the website or is given resource materials from the website as a gift or as part of an organizational package is conditioned to this licensing policy.
By using the resource materials, the purchaser or user agrees to be bound by the terms of this licensing policy. Should the user disagree or refuses to comply with the terms of this licensing policy, the user should not use the resource materials on this website and delete the resource files from his/her devices.
Types of Licenses
- Personal
- Group
Personal License
A personal license as the name connotes is a license that is granted to only a single person. The license is granted to a specific end user and can be used by that person only. These personal licenses are nonexchangeable and cannot be transferred from one person to another.
Except expressly stated in the Terms of Use, the seller grants to a purchaser upon purchase of the resource materials a perpetual, irrevocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive, non-sub licensable, worldwide, limited license to use the Resource materials for the purposes for which it was purchased. The Seller may in its sole discretion give added rights on the license to the purchaser.
Specifically, the seller licenses the purchaser to:
- One license for only his or her use*
- Personal and instructive and informational use of the resources only.
- Download or print copies of the resources and can distribute the same to students or parents for personal use only
*Supplementary licenses can be purchased for other specific users.
The Seller prohibits the purchaser from:
- Commercializing the resource materials for profit purposes such as marketing or selling it.
- Sharing the resource materials in public or other platforms by posting, sending, selling or transferring.
Group License
A group license as the name connotes is a license that is granted to two or more users at the same time but can only be transferred to one user at a time. By way of example, a license granted to a specific educator or a specific teacher can be used by that person and can be transferred to another person. These licenses can be used by two persons at the same time and can be transferred from one person to another person at a time. In other words, only two people at every given point in time can use this license. This license is best suited for educational institution or organizations. Only the purchaser i.e. the educational institution or organization can transfer the license from the previous user to a new user and this is permitted twice per annum after the educational institution has claimed the license from the previous user.
Except expressly stated in the Terms of Use, the seller grants to a purchaser upon purchase of the resource material a perpetual, irrevocable, non-transferable, non-exclusive, non-sub licensable, worldwide, limited license to use the resource materials for the purposes for which it was purchased. The Seller may in its sole discretion give added rights on the license to the purchaser.
Specifically, the seller licenses the purchaser to:
- Personal and instructive and informational use of the resources only.
- Download or print copies of the resources and can distribute the same to students or parents for personal use only.
- Two licenses for two users at every point in time*
- Right of purchaser to claim the license from users and transfer to other users.
*Supplementary licenses can be purchased for more than two users.
The Seller prohibits the purchaser from:
- Commercializing the resource materials for profit purposes such as marketing or selling it.
- Sharing the resource materials in public or other platforms by posting, sending, selling or transferring.
Note: Personal license holder can upgrade to group license, but group license cannot downgrade to personal license.
